Centralised Materials Handling
Centralised loading systems offer the greatest flexibility in conveying materials to any number of processing machines.
The system eliminates manual handling of materials, greatly improving housekeeping, reducing spillage and contamination by allowing all materials storage (and drying hoppers) to be grouped together away from the production area.
The system is pneumatically operated by vacuum with the control system working on the ‘starvation’ method. Each centralised microprocessor operator panel can control up to 40 material receivers and 4 vacuum blowers, as well as all pipe clearance valves, silo selection valves, proportional valves and all peripherals. It uses a single 5 core control cable for communication between all equipment which also facilitates easy system installation, extension or modification. Parameter changes may be made at the central controller or at the individual material receiver.
Features
-
Virtually any number of material receivers connected to a central vacuum and filter system.
-
Optional automatic pipe clearing.
-
Various receiver sizes designed to suit machine size and material throughput.
-
Optional proportional control valve fitted to the receiver for controlled loading of two materials, (virgin and regrind).
-
All time adjustments easily carried out either at the central control panel or at the individual receiver.
Benefits
-
Reduced spillage and waste with elimination of contamination.
-
Cleaner, tidier and safer workplace.
-
Dispenses with need for bags of material on shop floor and associated manual handling.
-
Eliminates need for forklift truck operations in the production area.
-
Energy saving resulting from one central vacuum unit replacing several vacuum motors.
-
Material drying and colour dosing can be easily incorporated into the system.
A range of vacuum blowers with various airflows and static pressures are available for each installation requirement. A pneumatic by-pass valve allows continuous operation of the vacuum motor, improving reaction time and reducing wear and tear due to repeat start ups.
Central filtration forms part of the system to protect the vacuum blower and prevent dust entering the work environment. All filter systems are fitted with automatic filter cleaning by compressed air requiring only occasional removal of the collected dust.
Individual material receivers, with capacities from 2 to 60 litres are of 100% stainless steel, fitted with a metal mesh filter, break-vacuum valve and individual controller which is interactive with the central controller, for local parameter modification. Receivers also accept the VP range of proportional valves.
Loading systems may be integrated with individual hot air dryers or with a central dehumidifier drying system with heaters on each hopper. A single dehumidifier unit supplies dried air to several material drying hoppers, each hopper drawing dehumidified air as required and heating to required process temperature.
