Dehumidifier Driers

Provide dehumidified air for drying hygroscopic thermoplastic granules where the moisture is retained within the plastic granule, rather than just on the surface.

The range of dehumidifier dryers provide optimum drying efficiency resulting in improved product quality, mechanical properties, surface finish and a reduction in rejected parts.

Some materials, most commonly engineering polymers, are hygroscopic – that is they absorb moisture deep within the plastic granule.  Hot air dryers are not able to remove this moisture from within the granule; for these materials a dehumidifier dryer is recommended.  Molecular sieve dryers are one of the best methods of producing low dew point temperature air, as low as -50°C which has the ability to draw out the moisture from deep within the granule and absorb it into the molecular sieve which is then regenerated.

The DEU, DE and WD range of molecular sieve dryers are the perfect solution for the successful drying of hygroscopic materials.

Type Description Max Hopper Capacity

DE1 Single Molecular Sieve Tower 150 29
DE Twin Molecular Sieve Tower 400 107
DEU Twin Molecular Sieve Tower 1,500 333
WDS Honeycomb Wheel 250 69
WD Honeycomb Wheel 600 120
DCM Central Drying Typically one of above models types matched to a number of hoppers

Features

  • Timer: daily and weekly for programmed start/stops.
  • Airflow matched to hopper size.
  • High pressure blowers and large surface air filters.
  • Fully insulated stainless steel molecular sieve towers (DE & DEU models)
  • Compact design.
  • PID microprocessor control.
  • Safety monitoring.

Benefits

  • Optimum performance combined with energy saving.
  • Reduced degradation of the polymer.
  • Certain models do not require additional cooling water or compressed air; see technical data sheet.

The DE range is the latest generation of desiccant dryers with either one or two molecular sieve towers. With latest generation electronics, clear LCD graphic display and solid state relays, these units also incorporate many energy saving features.

A wide range of hoppers are available, all in stainless steel with ceramic fibre insulation.

Optional X function - electrically driven change over of the molecular towers.

Energy saving

  • Temperature monitoring of the regeneration cycle and heat recovery from the regeneration circuit to the process circuit.
  • Energy function – delays the tower change over, suitable for certain less hygroscopic materials. Used in conjunction with VFE valve which hermetically seals the ‘waiting’ tower. (VFE valve optional)
  • Automatic RCE function - reduces the process air temperature when a reduction in throughput is detected or when throughput stops. Use in conjunction with ATR anti-stress function which reduces process air flow (ATR control optional)
  • Standard MT version (up to 150°C) with exclusive New Omap design AIR/AIR heat exchanger (no cooling water required)
  • High temperature versions (up to 190°C) use a water/air heat exchanger with temperature controlled solenoid valve.
