RACA Plus Energy
This new range of outdoor chiller with scroll compressors and refrigerant gas R410a are designed for the utmost in energy savings and efficiency.
Advantages of R410a Refrigerant
With outstanding heat conductivity it contributes towards achieving elevated system efficiency. R410a is also an ecologically-friendly gas and because of its increased efficiency it also reduces energy consumption and consequently CO2 emissions.
A chiller is usually under load at its nominal rated value for very short times. Most commonly they are loaded at between 50% and 75%. The ESEER parameter takes account of this partial loading when assessing efficiency. It should be noted that units are only required to deliver at 100% of their rated cooling power for just 3% of their total running time, according to ESEER.
| Load | Ambient Air | Weight1 |
|---|---|---|
| 100% | 35°C | 3% |
| 75% | 30°C | 33% |
| 50% | 25°C | 41% |
| 25% | 20°C | 23% |
1Time fraction with operation at respective load conditions.
| Power EER | RACA Plus Energy 302 with R410a | RACA Plus 302 with R407c | Delta Energy Efficiency |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100% | 2.59 | 2.44 | 1% |
| 75% | 3.59 | 2.71 | 32% |
| 50% | 4.45 | 3.21 | 38% |
| 25% | 4.39 | 3.27 | 30% |
| Average | 4.10 | 3.04 | 35% |
The comparison tables prove that the new RACA Plus Energy with R410a demonstrates significantly greater energy efficiency, saving on average 35% over traditional dual circuit systems with R407c.
- Cool down your energy cost, heat up efficiently and profits.
- Models with two or four compressors.
- Suitable for outdoor purposes, with aluminium structure.
- Working in ambient temperatures up to 46°C.
- Reduced carbon footprint, thanks to its outstanding heat conductivity.
- Cooling capacities in the range of 130kW to 340kW, or tailored to specification.
It should be noted that cooling capacities quoted for the RACA Plus Energy are valid when water is at 7°C and ambient air at 35°C.

RACA/E
RACA/E, RACA/E Superplus and RACA/E Free Cooling
Designed for outdoor installation and made totally from INOX, these chillers are build to last. They are designed for large installations and may be easily grouped to form a large cooling plant.
Individual units are available from 100kW to 900kW cooling capacities. They are supplied as complete units with water tanks and pumps according to specification. They are notable for their quietness of operation thanks to reduced dimension fans, each individually controlled, and acoustically-insulated compressors.
In addition, the RACA/E Superplus uses HFC134a refrigerant This gas achieves particular advantages from an environmental point of view, as it does not contain chlorine and features a low GWP. Furthermore, being a pure substance this fluid does not involve any issues related to 'glide.'
Most of these units may be supplied with heat recovery, providing water at a constant temperature up to 55°C.
- Monobloc construction complete with tank and pumps.
- Cooling multicircuit.
- Low noise level.
- Energy recovery with single or double free cooling patented system.

Free Cooling
Chillers usually consist of a refrigerator unit comprising a compressor(s), condenser and evaporator. The heat absorbed by the refrigerant fluid passing from the liquid to the gaseous phase takes place in the evaporator, due to the heat contained within the processed water. The chiller is also provided with fans for cooling the condenser to which the refrigerant fluid yields heat after compression when passing from the gaseous to the liquid phase. Therefore, in a conventional system the compressor is permanently required with electro/mechanical power needed to achieve water cooling.
To save energy our systems may employ a heat exchanger in the refrigerator units through which process water may be cooled by ambient air. This air, forced by the condenser fans, flows through this supplementary heat exchanger. So, under favourable conditions, the free cooling system will allow operation of the chiller without its compressors, with substantial energy savings. For the production of processed water at 15°C, free cooling could be employed effectively from late September until mid-April (or almost all year based on the summer of 2008!).
Free cooling may be specified for most chillers except RACA/C.

Water Cooling
DCS Dry Coolers
For producing large amounts of cooled water close to ambient air temperature.
These close-looped systems eliminate the problems and safety concerns associated with conventional cooling towers. They are available in a number of configurations: horizontal, vertical and 'V' and may be supplied with an optional spray system for those unusually extra hot days.
Optional extras include full hydronic kit, including expansion tank, pump(s) and control valves; and electronic control panel to regulate speed and number of fans in operation.
- Energy saving coolers for fluids.
- Cooling capacity from 150 to 800kW in a single unit.
- Spray system for higher efficiency.
