Revolutionising Sustainability and Energy Efficiency in Refrigeration and Temperature Control Systems

Category: Event, Frigosystem, Sustainability and Environment, Temperature Control
Frigosystem at Plast 2023

With an impressive legacy of over 50 years in the industry, and strong partnerships with leading process machinery manufacturers, Intelicare’s exclusive partner, Frigosystem is the ultimate ally for those seeking cutting-edge solutions with sustainable benefits, and remarkable energy savings in their transformation processes.

After redesigning its product ranges twice in the last 6 years, aiming for increasingly higher levels of energy efficiency (going well beyond the minimum requirements imposed today by international regulations), the company from Caronno Pertusella (VA) presents itself at Plast 2023 (Hall 15 Stand B62) with innovative technologies aimed at drastically reducing bills and production costs.

The cooling and temperature control of fluids play a pivotal role in numerous applications, exerting a profound influence on the quality of end products and the overall productivity of production lines. However, traditional systems often come with exorbitant energy consumption. That’s where Frigosystem comes in. This industry innovator sets itself apart by researching and developing tailored solutions for their customers. Plast 2023 offers an opportunity to delve into the latest breakthroughs and stay at the forefront of advancements in the field.

Exhibiting Efficiency and Energy Savings

With an exhibition area of 160 square meters and a technical team available throughout the fair, Frigosystem will present some of its latest technologies:

I-RES, is a ground-breaking range of refrigeration units boasting magnetic levitation compressors with cooling capacities reaching an impressive 4700 kW. The unit exhibited at Plast 2023, equipped with a water condenser, is one of the most efficient models on the market. Its SEPR (Seasonal Efficiency Performance Ratio) is 12.04, more than double that of traditional chillers.

The renowned RACA PLUS ENERGY series remains unparalleled in terms of versatility, excelling in various applications and adapting seamlessly to diverse climatic conditions. Each model can now be equipped with total or partial heat recovery, enabling every operating refrigeration circuit to become a precious source of freely available heat that was once wasted.

The implementation of this cutting-edge heat recovery system offers an array of advantages:

frigosystem free cooling system
  • The generation of hot water with temperatures of up to +80°C (ideal for sanitary systems or industrial processes).
  • The harnessing of free heating power, accounting for up to 50% of the engaged cooling power.
  • Savings of 1 cubic meter of methane gas for every 8 kW of recovered thermal power.

Free Cooling and Beyond

As if that weren’t impressive enough, the FREE-COOLING option, which is available on all water chillers, has been optimised to extend operating times throughout the year. By intelligently leveraging favourable climatic conditions, such as those experienced during winter, transitional seasons, or even at night at the installation site, this enhanced feature partially throttles or entirely shuts down compressors based on real-time temperature readings from both the environment and the process. As energy costs soar, forward-thinking installations in the Milan area have already witnessed a return on investment within a year by embracing the free cooling option combined with water chillers. This is an extremely fast return when considering that the energy benefit in the following years becomes pure economic savings.

For Frigosystem, free cooling is not only limited to water chillers. At Plast 2023, visitors will find the KITE-KITE DEX line in the spotlight: this line of air coolers, primarily employed in bubble film extrusion lines to cool annular dies and IBCs, stand as the sole line on the market equipped with a custom-designed free cooling system. Through autonomous temperature analysis, this ground-breaking system intelligently matches the required process temperatures with those emanating from the external closed-circuit condensing source, ultimately relieving, or shutting down compressors as needed.

Frigosystem Adiabatic Cooler

Frigosystem’s dedication to optimising resources extends beyond electricity—it encompasses water as well. The ACE series of adiabatic coolers have been meticulously engineered to deliver unparalleled performance even in the most challenging climates. Operating in over 100 countries worldwide, Frigosystem has mastered the art of efficient heat exchange coils, water distribution, and variable-speed brushless fans, helping you bid farewell to skyrocketing utility bills.

Sustainable Resolutions for Modern Challenges

Committed to pushing the boundaries of sustainability, Frigosystem has tailored its product ranges to meet the demands of eco-conscious customers. Offering alternative refrigerant gases with low or even ultra-low Global Warming Potential (GWP), Frigosystem empowers users to select the most suitable gas based on availability, costs, and regulations in their specific installation country. Furthermore, with their international team of experts, Frigosystem not only provides unparalleled technical support but also ensures compliance with mandatory legal checks, such as F-Gas, and conducts routine performance monitoring to maximise the efficiency and longevity of your systems.

At Plast 2023, Frigosystem will also showcase three of the countless configurations it designs for temperature control, using water up to 180°C and diathermic oil up to 350°C. In recent years, the need to increase the productivity of lines, such as plastic film lines, with heating, annealing, and cooling systems for more technical and expensive materials, has led to the development of multizone systems dedicated to MDO lines. Temperature precision combined with power absorption are crucial factors for both end-users and line manufacturers. Alongside the latter, Frigosystem has optimised heat exchange systems, temperature management accuracy, and flow control in the systems, achieving remarkable results.

With Frigosystem always at the forefront of refrigeration and temperature control technology in the industry, these aspects are no longer secondary concerns. At Plast 2023, they deserve thorough consideration, especially for those who urgently need to improve the energy efficiency of their facilities.
